TM Speedometer

Through the TM’s speedometer can give you rough ideas of how fast or the bandwidth of your broadband connection, but I am doubt with how accurate would be the result. As a matter of fact, the speedometer scripts are hosted in servers located in TM’s network. It is considered local and internal peering. If, the scripts are hosted in other data centre in Malaysia such as NTT or Jaring IDC, you may get very different results of what you are expecting!

Yet, another fact is, it is on port 8080, not the standard 80 (http)! This can be misleading!

    1. you need to pay each month in time
    2. problem occur always
    3. always fix the problem after 2 or 3 days
    4. always say “this is not my job, the only things i can do is to write report, and you need to wait for service”
    5. waste your time and money to call tmnet service out

So can you help me… please sent this into tmnet who have the power to improve tmnet service.

  3. Thanks for sharing this with us. If you go to Youtube, you can find dozen of interesting video made by our friends who tired listening to the TM Operator ‘wait-for-ever’ pre-recorded message :)

My friend was using Maxis 3G Broadband (the small devide plug into your USB), that works quite well, you can explore!

As for TM, sometimes it really depends on location. We used TM Fixed IP package in the office and experience not much downtime. But my house with Streamyx dynamic IP works equally well too.

Anyway, I have heard from many friends with Streamyx problem, particularly to few location and specific customers. The intermediate problem is annoying, I share your pain!

    Hope my two cent helps
