I was talking to one of our customer of email hosting today. Apparently, she can’t receive any email to her mailbox because of accidentally turned off the ‘Save a copy after forwarding’. The mailbox supposes to forward all email received, and save a copy.

She tried without any luck after I have fixed the problem for her. That is when she asked me again and I tried, it works smoothly. Couldn’t believe it, she tried again and this time everything works fine.

‘Can I have a picture of you?’ She asked

Astonished at first, but I am soon to find out that she teasingly want to have my picture put on their PCs to serve as ‘門神’. Ancient Chinese way of protecting the safety of home.

Even wonder why your email or your friend’s email been marked as Spam? Apparently, your mail server has marked it as Spam and moved them from your Inbox to the Spam Box, or simply add the line [SPAM] in front of the subject of your email.

Of course, you can safelist/whitelist that particular email address so that it will not be marked as Spam in future. But, this does not solve the problem forever, and it works to your mail server only.

To know why, check the header of the Spamm’ed mail. In Outlook Express, right click on the email and view the Message Properties. Find the line which contains the score of your Spam. Usually, anything more than 6 are marked as Spam. Higher marks means this email do not pass most of the Spam tests.

If you are keen on what test the email failed, check this out

No doubt, both email and web hosting services need a domain name to work properly. Your broadband and web hosting service providers told you that the email services are freebies. It is bundled together and require less attention than the product they are selling!

Yet, many of us are spending more time emailing than visiting our own corporate website!

Technically speaking, email and web hosting are two completely different services, except that both of them share the same DNS servers. DNS servers host zone file that contains pointing information for both email and web requests.

This means, you can host your email with one service provider while web hosting with another.

Messages are downloaded to your computer, so you don’tneed to worry about exceeding the size of your mailbox.

When accessing your email account through a web browser, you may not see previous messages that were downloaded to your desktop email client.
